Letters written by William Elmore Howard of the 17th Vermont Regiment, Co. G, April 12 and 1[6?], 1864, from a camp near Burlington, Vt.; and two letters by Howard to his father, William S. Howard, Concord, Vt., while a prisoner at Danville Prison, Va., August 4 and September 14, 1864. Also included is a discharge for William E. Howard of Kirby, Vt., from Co. K of the 15th Vermont Regiment, August 15, 1863.
